Fr. William Hesse

I was born in January of 1964 and Baptized in February of that same year at All Saints Episcopal Church in Bergenfield, NJ.

I was confirmed in that same Church in 1977.  I met my wife Mary in 1981 where we both worked at Roy Rogers’s restaurant in Bergenfield, NJ.  So, in many ways, we were high school sweethearts.

Mary was born on July 22nd, 1964 in Teaneck, NJ. And was both baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Dumont, NJ.

I left for Paris Island, South Carolina to go to Marine Corps Boot Camp the day after I graduated from Bergenfield High School in June of 1982. While I was deployed for my first two years in the Marines, Mary went off to college to get a degree in accounting. She had better grades when I was not around; I guess I can be a bit distracting.

Mary and I were married in March of 1984 in Camp Lejeune, NC.  Our daughter, Genevieve (Geni) was born in February of 1985 at the base hospital at Camp Lejeune Our son, Will was born in 1994 at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, CA, when I was stationed at the Naval Base in San Diego.

Both of our children were baptized in the Roman Catholic Church. Geni was confirmed at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, in Beaufort, SC. and Will was confirmed at Christ Church, New Brighton, PA.

I served for 21 years in the Marines and retired as a Gunnery Sergeant “Gunny” in 2003.

In May of 2003, both Mary and I went to Trinity Ministry in Ambridge, PA. to learn more about our Lord.  There I sought out discernment to Holy Orders.  I was ordained Deacon on 11 November 2006 at Christ Church, New Brighton, PA. and ordained a Priest in May of 2007 at Bishop Seabury Church, Groton, CT.

Prior to coming to St. James, I was the Associate Rector of Bishop Seabury Church in Groton, CT.

Mary, Will and I are so looking forward to coming to St. James, Prospect Park, and am humbled by God as to allow me in such a time and place to preach the Gospel and care for those that He has allowed me to serve.

God has made it VERY evident that we are called here at St. James', just ask any vestry members about the Grandfather clock!

God Bless,

Fr. Bill <>< +
